Lazy Gluten Free: Broiled Grapefruit

Broiled Grapefruit

Since earlier this year, I have been working on incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet by using Door to Door Organics. I receive a weekly delivery of produce and it's so much fun to come up with new recipes to use what we receive. This recipe was actually inspired by a post that my sister had found on Pinterest.

I had a giant grapefruit sitting on my counter that I knew was getting to the perfect ripeness. My sister, Melanie, happened to see it and suggested I try broiling it. Never having heard of broiling a grapefruit before, I told her to find the recipe and we'd give it a try. I'm glad we did, because we both loved the results.

Normally, I only eat grapefruit occasionally since it's really not one of my favorites. However, after broiling the fruit with some brown sugar, I actually find myself craving it more often! Both my sister and I agreed that this was definitely a perfect way to eat a grapefruit. Not to mention, it looks really pretty too :)

Broiled Grapefruit

Ingredients:
1 large grapefruit
1-2 teaspoons brown sugar

Directions:
1) Turn on broiler to Hi.

2) Cut grapefruit in half and remove any seeds. Cut around the outsides of each segment to loosen the fruit (optional).

3) Place the grapefruit halves on a baking sheet and sprinkle brown sugar on top of each.

4) Broil the grapefruit halves for about 5-7 minutes. Enjoy!
