Lazy Gluten Free: Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta

Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta

Steven loves burgers. He could probably eat them every day if I would allow him to. However, since I don't want him to actually turn into a burger, I like to find alternatives that are delicious, yet still satisfy his never-ending burger craving. Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta definitely does just that.

This is another Taste of Home recipe that I found online. It's quite flavorful and is very filling. I would not say this is not a healthy recipe by any means though. But when you're looking for something that isn't a "typical burger", this recipe works perfect.

Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta

You will need:
8 oz Hodgson Mill Gluten-Free Brown Rice Penne
1 pound ground beef
6 bacon strips
1 can (15 oz) Contadina Tomato Sauce (this is GF)
1 cup Kraft shredded cheddar cheese
Barbecue sauce (Sweet Baby Rays) and Kraft prepared mustard, optional

Cook the noodles according to package directions (do not over cook). Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook the beef over medium heat until no pink remains; drain and set aside.

In the same pan, cook the bacon strips until nice and crispy; remove with slotted spoon or fork to paper towels to drain. Discard drippings. Drain the pasta and add to the large skillet. Stir in the tomato sauce, beef, and bacon; heat through. Add the barbecue sauce and mustard, if desired.

Remove from the heat and sprinkle with the cheddar cheese. Cover the pan and let stand for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Yield: 4 to 6 servings
